Geography
Situated at the northeastern tip of Negros Occidental facing the island
of Cebu, some 95 kms. from Bacolod City, and 49 kms. away from San
Carlos City. It is bounded on the Northwest by Sagay City, on the
south by the Municipality of Toboso, and on the east by Tañon
Strait.
The city's total land area of 19,276
hectares supports almost 80,000 people. The land is relatively flat
(60%) with remaining portions that are hilly and mountainous. Several
creeks and rivers emanating from surface springs crisscross the
breadth and length of the city. The city has a moderately high rainfall.
The dry season is not distinct and lasts for only 2-3 months.
The city is accessible by any vehicle
from any point of Negros Island, and by ferry boat from Cebu through
the Yap RORO Port, or the Barcelona Port.
