With the help of Central Visayas Information Sharing Network (CVISNet), the City Government is committed to wire all its 21 barangays in the first quarter of 2003. It has already energized all, but one barangay, which will buy a generator. Globelines has already extended its wires to the barangay halls. Computers are already being acquired such that the barangays will be internet-ready by February 28, 2003, in time for its 2nd Charter Day Anniversary.

This Barangay Online project is envisioned to:
1. enhance its revenue-generating capability, in terms of real property taxation,
    income taxation, and barangay clearances, among others. This means more
    income and more financial independence of the barangays for its projects;
2. connect its residents to their friends and relatives in the World Wide Web; and
3. highlight the tourist and investment opportunities of the barangay to the outside
   world.

The development of the Escalante City and barangay website supports the investment and tourism promotion efforts of the city by making public information available online.
